University - Community Partnership

Cornell University is one of the world's premier research institutions and the Land Grant institute for the State of New York.  As part of the Land Grant mission, Cornell researchers have traditionally turned their attention to pressing contemporary issues faced by society.

Cornell University Cooperative Extension faculty and staff link individuals, families, communities, and businesses to practical, research-based knowledge from Cornell University - knowledge that is used to improve lives and communities, increase economic vitality, and enhance environmental quality.

Our activities and programs are based primarily on the results of research being conducted in Cornell's statutory colleges and units; the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Human Ecology, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Division of Biological Sciences, and the Agriculture Experiment Stations at Ithaca and Geneva.  Extension professionals also draw from the vast interdisciplinary work being conducted in Cornell's other colleges and units as well as from universities across the nation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
